Sol e Mar

The music of sol e mar excites the mind, inspires the
body and moves the spirit. Sol e mar, Portuguese for
sun and sea, calls forth images synonymous with energy
and enchantment worldwide. Sol e mar has been
performing both as a band and as a large percussion
ensemble since 1986. The sol e mar dancers and
acrobatic capoiera martial artists complete the floor
show, both surprising and delighting the audience with
their display of vibrant color, excitement and spirit
of Carnaval.

Sol e mar has moved people at countless events
throughout Southern California, such as: the World
Cup Soccer Tournament, Holiday Bowl Parade, San Diego
Street Scene, Brasil ’99 at the Hollywood Bowl,
performing with Sergio Mendes and the Los Angeles
Philharmonic and opening for the Neville Brothers and
Olodum at the Hollywood Palladium. Most recently Sol
e mar has been invited to stage and perform at
numerous corporate conventions and international
conferences. With its powerful and explosive sounds
and larger than life productions, sol e mar proves to
be the perfect event for opening processions and
moving thousands of people from one location to
another.

The sol e mar band specializes in Brazilian and Latin
Jazz dance music. From the elegant Bossa Nova to the
steamy Salsa, this versatile ensemble blends styles
like the Cha cha cha, the Conga and the Samba with
jazz and funk giving sol e mar a very unique sound.
When it’s time to party, the group transforms into a
percussion ensemble with all of the rhythm and
percussion of a captivating Brazilian Carnaval. The
group is available as a trio, quartet or quintet.

Escola de Samba sole e mar is a grand and magnificent
drum ensemble that can parade anywhere. The samba
dancers are effective at creating an uplifting mood
and inspiring festive audience participation. Their
costumes are a visual sensation of brilliance and
color. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art
fused with dance and music and is an absolute show
stopper featuring incredible acrobatics.
